Hi Chloe, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Becoming an entrepreneur has been a journey that defied my expectations and pushed me to grow in ways I never imagined. It all began in high school at Smith County High School, where gender-based program denial led to a redirection into the cosmetology program. Amidst the initial reluctance and multiple teacher changes, a beacon of light emerged in the form of Mrs. Robinson, who became more than a teacher; she became my mentor and provided the support I needed during a pivotal time in my life. Her unwavering belief in me formed the foundation upon which I built my career.
After six months, what began as a subject became a calling. With over 500 hours of hands-on experience shadowing at a local salon, my path became clearer. Enrolling at Genesis Career College after high school brought moments of doubt, with thoughts of returning to my Florida hometown. Yet, destiny had other plans. Despite initial challenges with teacher changes, Mrs. Karen and Mrs. RO emerged as extraordinary educators. They instilled in me the belief that success in this industry is a direct result of the effort and dedication you invest. (Joshua 1:9)
The transition into entrepreneurship, amidst the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, brought its own set of unique challenges. Waiting for licenses between Tennessee and Florida was a test of my patience, but my passion remained unwavering. Six weeks after obtaining my license, I ventured into a new chapter by working at a salon. However, it stirred within me a desire to create a space that transcended the ordinary—a sanctuary that welcomed all.
In June 2020, I officially became a licensed professional, and in February 2022, I summoned the courage to open Blooming Fire Salon & Spa, guided by our mission: “Your one-stop shop for all beauty needs! Bloom with confidence within our walls, where skilled artists specialize in hair, nails, and more. Our artists stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques.”
Starting a business in a new town with limited connections and a fledgling client base was a bold and courageous step forward. This industry demands much—physically, emotionally, and in every aspect. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I wanted to build more than a salon; I wanted to craft a space where everyone felt embraced. However, moving in that direction was once again a challenge I had to face.
After a year, I found Lisa G., and after working closely with her in a week-long shadowing experience, a transformative process began. Through in-depth coaching sessions, we assessed my strengths, weaknesses, and aspirations. What stood out was the personalized approach, tailored to my unique needs. This experience prompted a profound shift in perspective, particularly in prioritizing personal well-being alongside professional endeavors. By week’s end, I emerged with newfound clarity, reignited creativity, and a reinvigorated commitment to the industry.
Over the years, I’ve poured my heart and soul into creating that space. Blooming Fire Salon & Spa is a place where people from all walks of life find not just a beauty transformation, but a sense of belonging. It’s a space where people leave not only looking their best but feeling heard, understood, and with a heartfelt smile. This journey has been far from easy, but every challenge has been met with a sense of purpose and the unwavering belief that the rewards are worth every effort.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like any entrepreneurial journey, there have been challenges to overcome. One significant hurdle was starting a business in a new town with limited connections and a fledgling client base. Additionally, navigating the licensing process between Tennessee and Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic required patience and persistence.
Adapting to changes in teaching staff during my cosmetology education also presented its own set of challenges. However, each obstacle was met with determination and a commitment to providing a welcoming space for all at Blooming Fire Salon & Spa. One pivotal experience was a week-long shadowing with Lisa G, which brought about a profound shift in perspective and a reinvigorated commitment to the industry. Despite these challenges, the journey has been incredibly rewarding, and every effort has been met with purpose and a belief in the value of the work being done.

As the owner and operator of Blooming Fire Salon and Spa, I’m deeply committed to providing exceptional services both behind the chair and in the realm of business operations. While I continue to work full-time behind the chair, I’m also actively pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, seeking to fortify my understanding of how successful salons operate.
In my role as a stylist, I’m known for being a color specialist, with a strong belief in the importance of a healthy scalp for maintaining vibrant and beautiful hair. I take pride in offering affordable luxury services that range from scalp health treatments to corrective color and extensions. My specialization lies in creating low-maintenance blondes and colors, with a focus on perfecting transformative looks like natural gray growouts.
One of my distinct offerings is hair extensions. Having personally experienced the desire for fuller, longer hair, I’m passionate about providing this service to my clients. Through a deep understanding of hair health and integrity, I’m able to expertly apply various types of extensions, including Keralinks, sew-in wefts, tape-ins, and more.
What truly sets me apart is my dedication to not only enhancing the beauty of my clients but also prioritizing the overall health and well-being of their hair. This holistic approach, combined with my expertise in color and extensions, allows me to offer a unique and transformative experience for each client who walks through the doors of Blooming Fire Salon and Spa.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I appreciate most about Dunnellon, where my business is located, is the serene atmosphere and the proximity to the beautiful Rainbow River. The natural beauty here offers a peaceful backdrop that’s truly special. Much like Tampa, which I visit frequently, the outdoor scene by the water is simply stunning.
Dunnellon has a distinct charm in its quietude, providing a stark contrast to the bustling pace of a city like Tampa. It’s been intriguing to witness the gradual uptick in activity and development in our town over the last few years. While I appreciate the vibrancy of Tampa’s culture, I find solace in the slower pace of life here. It strikes a perfect balance for me.
